HSIS and PBCAT have new homes!

The Highway Safety Information System (HSIS) website has a new home! Information regarding HSIS, its products, data, and resources can now be found at https://highways.dot.gov/research/safety/hsis.  The HSIS database includes crash, roadway, traffic, and asset data from seven States across the country and Charlotte, NC. Access to data and tools available through HSIS helps researchers and educators conduct modern safety research, including data from the 1980’s through 2022 for some agencies – with additional years of data being added constantly.

The latest version of the Pedestrian and Bicycle Crash Analysis Tool (PBCAT) – Version 3 – can also be accessed through the HSIS website or directly at https://highways.dot.gov/research/pbcat/overview.  The Pedestrian and Bicycle Crash Analysis Tool, version 3 (PBCAT 3), is an open-access crash typing application.  PBCAT assists State and local transportation safety practitioners and researchers develop new variables to describe collisions between motorists and non-motorists on trafficway or non-trafficway locations.
